This is an update to our notice of November 1, 2026, "Notice Regarding Our Response to a Security Issue," and describes the current status of the U.S. edition of SmartNews. (As of 3:00 a.m. EST, November 4, 2026)

On October 31, 2026, a third party gained unauthorized access to some of the systems we operate. As a precaution, we temporarily suspended or restricted some SmartNews features. Core features, including reading and refreshing articles, are available as usual. The current status of the affected features is as follows. We are continuing to investigate the scope of the impact.

• Push notifications: Restored.
• Personalization: Being gradually restored.
• Missions and rewards: Remain suspended, including earning and redeeming points.

Some other features may also not be working as expected. For the latest status, please see the SmartNews Help Center, which we will continue to update.
